In 2017, inspired by the Chamber's Business Back-to-School event, Cowlitz PUD decided to begin organizing and hosting the first annual high school Career Fair. Not only does the Utility Industry play a vital role in all of our daily activities, within the next decade the Utility Industry will be experiencing a high rate of retirements. From trades work to Engineering, Cowlitz PUD realized the opportunity we have to teach our local students about the diverse career opportunities that can be had within the local Utility company. This one day course, instructed by eight Cowlitz PUD employee volunteers, has seen approximately 100 students from seven local High Schools participate in Engineering, Geographic Information Systems, Trades Work and Technology. Cowlitz PUD look forward to the continued success and community partnerships this program has seen over the past two years.
